Why India is not developing ?
Answers
Answer:
Yes India is really developing; developing at a fast GDP growth rate of over 7%. It has an over 2.5 trillion economy and in that respect, it is closely following China but has overtaken Russia. It has the 3rd largest number of billionaires. In India, the lowest tier of the Ultra High Networth (UHNW) group represented by those worth $30 million to $49 million is the largest group, making up 45.7 per cent of the total UHNW population. They have a combined fortune of $125 billion, or 13.5 per cent, of the total wealth of the ultra affluent in India.
Its development processes are not sustainable, for one thing because it does not respond positively to the Sustainability Principles: Economic, Social and Environmental. Its economic development is at the cost of social and environmental aspects, which are the other two pillars of sustainable development.
Giving just one example: According to The Report jointly prepared by FAO, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Programme, Asia, the most populous continent, has 526 million hungry people, which includes India with 190.7 million, Pakistan 39.6 million, Bangladesh 26.2 million, Sri Lanka 5.2 million and Nepal 3.6 million.
