why Indians were outraged by the Rowlatt act? Explain?​

It gave the government autocratic powers to repress political activities besides allowing it to detain political prisoners without a trial, for two years. The Indian were outraged by this act as it was clearly undemocratic and oppressive, and hurt national sentiments and dignity.

Indians were outraged by the rowlatt because of the following reason:-.

  • It gave the government cinemas power to repress any and all released political activity
  • The act gave the government the right to detain and political prisoners for 2 years without a trial.
  • since since it was blatantly unsympathetic to the political rights and aspirations of the Indian people,it had met with united opposition.
  • However,the government is created this oposition and passed it in imperial legislative council Nevertheless.
