Answer:

Indus valley civilization is named after the the river Indus on whose banks began , one of the earliest and the most developed of the earlier civilizations . Harappa was a place ( during the Indus valley civilization ) which was situtated in the once province of Punjab under the British rule and in the present day Pakistan . Harappa was the first city from the Indus valley civilization to be found by archaeologists in an excavation due to which Indus valley civilization also got the name - ' Harappan civilization ' . Therefore we can say that the Indus valley civilization also got the name Harappan civilization due to the city of Harappa being the first city to be found from this civilization .
