In case of inert gases, outermost shell is filled with electrons leading to maximum electronic repulsions , hence larger size. So vanderwaals radius is considered instead of covalent radius.
Covalent radius is considered if they form bonds but inert gases do not form bonds.
Hence, Vanderwaals radius is considered.
