Answer:

Hey....!!!

Inert gases are used in bulbs because they provide an inert atmosphere inside of the bulb that prevent the oxidation of the filaments of the bulb....

Hope this helps....❤️❣️☺️

Inert gases like Argon, mixed with nitrogen gas (Nitrogen gas also shows inert behaviour) are used in bulb.

Earlier, the bulb was put in vacuum so that the filament of tungsten won't burn. It didn't burn but due to very high temperature of 2000-3000°C, the filament of the bulb was oxidised and further evaporated and would stuck on the glass of the bulb, preventing the efficiency of light emitted. Also, the filament loses its life due to continuous evaporation.

Hence, inert gases were used in order to not only stop burning but also to prevent the oxidation of filament so that they won't evaporate. The pressure exerted by inert gases prevents the tungsten from evaporation, thus improving its life. It also doesn't react with the filament as they are inert gases.
