Instead of soaps detergents are mostly used to wash clothes due to following reasons :
* Detergents can be even used in hard water whereas some of soaps gets wasted if water is hard.
* Detergents can be used even in acidic medium but soaps cannot be.
* The cleansing power of detergents is much higher than those of soaps.
* Detergents are more soluble in water than soaps and hence produce lather much more easily than soaps.
