Why iodination of alkane is a reversible reaction ?????

this is a reversible reaction because HI is very strong reducing agent. When reaction is first carried out in forward direction HI formed tries to reduce CH3l and the iodine in HI tries to oxide itself from oxidation state-1 from 0 and thus the reaction go in backward direction.
