ionic compounds are more soluble in water as they contain ions and water being polar in nature dissosciates ionic compounds but covalent compounds are not soluble as they are not dissosciated by water because they consist of molecules but ionic compounds consist of ions

because the ions of the ionic bond easily break in water while other compounds do not dissociate in water so easily
