why ionic compounds are soluble in polar solvent but not inorganic solvent

according to concept," like dissolves like", polar solute is soluble only in polar solvent and hence ionic compounds which are polar can dissociate only in polar solvent and not in non polar solvent.

Ionic compounds are soluble in polar solvents and insoluble in non-polar solvents.Henc,ionic compounds dissolve in polar solvents.Non-polar solvents like kerosene,benzene are not capable of dissolving ionic solids since they cannot decrease the force of attraction between the ions
