iconic compounds are composed of two elements . the iconic bond between these two elements is strong . In solid state there is no of free electrons and also there is no for the formation of ions .So iconic compound do not conduct electricity when they are solidelectricity, but they conduct electricity when dissolved in water aur when they are melted because in molten state these iconic compound form ions . This ions are responsible for conduction of electricity .

Solid ionic compounds do not conduct electricity because there are no free mobile ions or electrons, ionic compounds dissolved in water make an electrically conductive solution. In contrast, covalent compounds do not exhibit any electrical conductivity, either in pure form or when dissolved in water.
