why ionic compounds cannot form ions in solid state​

Answer:

in solid state the kinetic energy of the the ions is very low hence they can not collide with each other and form compound.

whereas in gaseous states the kinetic energy of molecules and ions is very high therefore they react very fast and form compound very effectively
