Conductive when liquid - ions are charged particles, but ionic compounds can only conduct electricity if their ions are free to move. So ionic compounds do not conduct electricity when they aresolid, but they do conduct electricitywhen they are dissolved in water or when they are melted...

Ionic compounds do not conduct electricity when they r in solid state but they do conduct electricity when they r dissolved in water or melted..
because in these two states the Ionic compound change or form ions which are responsible for conduction of electricity...
