because magnesium reacts with hot water but aluminum reacts with steam......
the magnesium has 2 valency and aluminum has 3 valency so the electrostatic is more in magnesium......

♠️ Ionisation enthalpy is energy required to remove one electron from valance shell of an atom.
▶️As Electric configuration of Mg is [ Ne ] 3s2 , as Mg is stable because it's ( s ) orbital is fill , hence it is hard to remove one electron , that's why it's Ionisation enthalpy is more
▶️ As electronic configuration of Al is [ Ne ] 3 s2 3 p1 , so to get stable electric configuration it easily lose one electron .
♠️ I.E ( Mg ) > I.E. ( Al )
