Aluminium is quite reactive metal than iron. Therefore, aluminium easily forms a passive level layer of Aluminium oxide on reaction with air which is not reactive. But in case of iron, it does not forms such a layer. Therefore, iron corrodes but aluminium does not .

Iron and steel rust when they come into contact with water and oxygen. They rust faster in salty water or acid rain. Aluminium, on the other hand, does not corrode easily, because its surface is protected by a layer of aluminium oxide.
