why iron does not rust if zinc coating is broken in agalvanized pipe

zinc is less reactive than iron and thus wouldn't get corroded

when zinc coating is broken the iron does rust but only on that particular point where the coating is broken.
The rest of the iron remains covered with zinc and protect it from rusting.
