"Burning" is a reaction between a combustible substance and oxygen. Contrary to common belief, most metals (including iron) are combustible, meaning that they will react with oxygen and release heat. The reason an iron bar won't generally burn is because the oxygen can't get inside. The surface layer actually does burn, but that forms a layer on the surface that keeps the oxygen from getting to the rest of the iron. If you grind up the iron into powder and disperse it in the air, then the oxygen in the air can get to every part of it, and it can burn pretty easily and very hot.

thanks My answer ❤️❤️❤️ and comment please

Explanation:

Iron has a strong molecular force of attraction. Hence when heated it doesn't reach to its ignition temperature and doesn't burn. But iron fillings when sprinkled in flames attain the ignition temperature ( as iron fillings are comparatively smaller particles) and gain larger surface area for the reaction.

iron fillings will react faster than the iron block beacause the surface area of the iron fillings is much larger than the iron block. hence due to bigger surface area iron fillings easily catch fire and the iron block doesn't burn quickly.
