why iron is not used for making electro magnets ​

The soft iron inside the coil makes themagnetic field stronger because it becomes a magnet itself when the current is flowing. Soft iron is usedbecause it loses its magnetism as soon as the current stops flowing. Soft iron is said to form a temporary magnet.

because once it is magnetised, it doesn't lose its magnetic properties.

i. e it becomes a permanent magnet

unlike soft iron becomes magnet only if current is passed.
