why iron nail sink in water but a ship does not

✔The iron needle is a compact solid and its density is more than water.

✔Thus, immersed in water it displaces very small amount of water as compared to its own weight and hence sinks in water.

✔The iron ship is Hollow from within and hence its Apparent density is less than that of water.

✔Thus, when in water it displaces more weight of water than its own weight and hence floats on the surface of water

✔1.The density of nail (as of iron) is much larger than the water. So it sinks easily.
✔2.The weight of the water displaced by the ship is equal to its weight, so it floats.
✔3.Whereas the weight of the water displaced by the iron nail is less than its weight so the iron nail sinks...
