AsĀ iron is a more reactive metal than copper (higher in the reactivity series) it displaces copper from CuSO4 to form FeSO4(ferrous sulphate)

Fe+CuSO4 ----> FeSO4+Cu

Because iron is very much reactive than copper. So it displaces copper from its solution. This process is known as displacement.
