Why iron tank are not use for keeping water

because iron easily reacts with water in the presence of air and this can cause rusting in iron... and could make water unhealthy for drinking..

1. Iron is a metal and metals are reactive.

2. Therefore when water is stored in metal tank made up of Iron, the iron reacts with water and leads corrosion (rusting).

3. Corrosion or rusting damages the metal due to which water can leak also corrosion decrease the life of tank.

4. hence to store water for long time iron tanks are not used.

Rusting of iron means reaction of iron/ferrous (fe) with oxygen therefore rust is nothing but oxidized iron or ferrous oxide
