why iron,zinc and magnesium

Metals like K, Na and Ca produce the base when they react with water because the reactivity of these metals are very high and they react violently with hot & cold water .
But metals like Mg , Zn & Fe don't react with cold water because these metal's reactivity is low , they only react with steam , so that they form metal-oxide + hydrogen gas .
