Step-by-step explanation:

It can be said that 1+1=2, only in books. It is not always true.Note : please read this answer till the end before down voting it.Suppose, there is girl and there is a boy, and they meet. Where we assume the value of boy = 1, and value of girl = 1,when they meet they give birth to a child, then it is,= boy + girl = boy + girl + child= 1 + 1 = 1 + 1 + childNow many of you will say, it is completely useless, please read further on.If we assume 1 is an entity, then another one also becomes an entity by default. If the merger of two entities takes place, as we see in major business units, then it brings some synergy with it.entity+entity= entity + entity + synergy,In the case of boy and girl, child is synergy. Now, take another case,1$ + 1$ = 2$, as we can see physically. But, either it is more than 2 or less than 2.If synergy is positive, it is more than 2 and if synergy is negative then it is less than 2.Whatever we have, in this material world, we try to measure it in terms of money. But, what is money?Money is the value of satisfaction, which we can get from market. If, we can buy something from market in $1 and we drive some satisfaction from it, but when we will buy another thing from market, our satisfaction will not get exactly doubled. Either, we will get, less than twice of the original satisfaction or less than twice of the original satisfaction. It is very rare that we will get, exactly twice of the initial , i took the example of $1+ $1 = $ 2, only our physical money has become twice but the satisfaction which we are going to drive from it, has not become other words, only the nominal or physical value of $1+$1= $2, but the real value of $1+$1>$2, if synergy is positive,$1+$1 < $2, if synergy is negative,$1 + $1 = $2, where there is no synergy ( rare case); Now some of you may argue on the basis of law of DMU(diminishing marginal utility)“According to law of diminishing utility, as we drive more and more of one commodity we get lower satisfaction from that unit” but it can be ignored here on the basis of :-We can buy two different quantities from market and;law doesn’t apply everywhere,so, in simple words, 1 + 1 is not equal to two,Lets take another example;suppose you have a TV in your home and you buy another TV, only the physical quantity of TV has become doubled but the real quantity of TV has not become doubled because we can measure television in the terms of entertainment or satisfaction, which we can get from it and we pay for it. Even, if you have paid, the same amount for the another television, the real quantity of tv has not become doubled because you will not get exactly twice the satisfaction from it. You will probably get the less satisfaction from another tv.We measure material things of world in money and we can measure money in satisfaction. Money is the value of satsfaction, which we can drive from market.1 + 1 = 2, it means only nominal or physical value has become doubled, but in reality,1+1 > 2, if it has positive synergy,1+1 < 2, if there is negative synergy,REASON FOR NEGATIVE SYNERGY :-“negative synergy occurs when the difference between two entities is such that they can’t cope with each other”REASON FOR POSITIVE SYNERGY :-“positive synergy occurs when two entities cope with each other in such a way, they drive more benefit from being together instead of working independently”;As we say the nominal head of INDIA is president and real head of INDIA is prime minister,We can say, 1 + 1 = 2, in nominal or physical terms and when there is no synergy(rare case);1 + 1 > 2, when there is positive synergy;1+1 < 2, when there is negative synergy.

I hope this is helpful.
