A polynomial is an algebraic sum of monomials. A monome is in form ax^n, where n is {0, 1, 2, 3, 4,…} So, your polynomial has -1 degree (1/x) and thus it is not a polynonial.

Answer:

it is not a polynomial because it has negative exponent and all exponents in a polynomial must be positive
