11 September, 1973 was the day Chile experienced a coup which marked the beginning and the end of many things in Chile. The following are some of the changes that came up as a result of this historic day in Chile:

1) The economic strategies brought in by the dictatorship government of Pinochet benefited only a few in the society, especially the capitalists, and this is the reason why there is a very huge gap between the rich and poor in Chile to date.
2)Many of the Chileans fled the country, about 200, 000, while many were assassinated, tortured, and/or detained. This resulted in the breaking of many families which consequently affected many lives.
3) The long reign in Chile's history as the hub of peace in the region was shuttered in that single day. Pinochet's government put an end to many media outlets, changed the constitution for eternity, and threw away both freedom and democracy out of the window.
