Deserts have sandy soil and scarcity of water. Due to this, less vegetation exists here. The climate here is hot and dry too. Womem have to walk miles to bring water (in remote regions).Farmers barely live in desert regions and choose areas like punjab and UP to inhabitate. People also don't prefer to live here due to the discomfort too. This is the reason deserts are not thickly populated.

Desert is not thickly populated because it is full of sand ,less vegetation. People have to face many problems just like women have to go very far for water.

Explanation:

At that place animals sweat very little just like camels. Smaller desert animals take moisture from plants or from animals .People who live in hilly region can't imagine desert . So,desert is not thickly populated...
