Foot steps and hand-spans are not the ideal or standard unit of length because these are not accurate. Even though one can measure using his body parts but these are not universal measurements. The size of body parts of different people vary. Different measures will lead to confusion so that is why we have chosen a unique standard measuring unit of length as to prevent these confusions.
