Leap Year as it's name suggest, leaps a certain time and according to our calendar, it leaps 4 years.

It comes after 4 years because Our earth rotates around sun's orbit and it takes 365 days. But due to some solar issues, it have a little more time to complete a round around Earth's orbit every 4 years, which is 365.25 days and this concludes to 366 days.

And a question might come to your mind also that why the day is only added from February?

So for a better knowledge, while making the calendar (for permanent), people learnt that they had 365 days and synchronised and came to point in which February got the most days, but to make it correct manner. Few days were removed from February and made to manner with 31-30 order. But now February got less days, only 28, but a philosopher told them that every 4 years, few days our added to the no. 365. So people thought that the rest days will be added to February. But due to philosopher inaccuracy, February got only one day and came to days of 29.

Hope it helps you!
