Why is a room heater placed near the floor of the room?

Due to the physical property of the air. Hot air, being lighter than the cold air tends to rise up (This is the same principle on which hot air balloons function, heating the air inside, which makes it rise upwards in air). So when hot air rises above inside the room, it pushes the cold air down and the cold air is then heated by the room heater, and rises. So this completes the cycle using natural circulation of air and helps in better heating of air inside the room.

As you know hot air Rises up and cold air settles down so room heater is placed near to the floor so that the heat can move uniformly from down to up. similarly, the air conditioner is placed near silly so that it can cool both the upside of the room and the cold air can go downside so that there is uniform cooling.
