switch board is made up of backelite because backelite is thermosetting plastic and does not melt and catches fire easily in case of short circuiting.

hiii!!!
here's ur answer...
what is bakelite???
=> it is a thermosetting plastic which cannot be remoulded and cannot be softened by heating. it is a bad conductor of heat and electricity.
now,
why switch board panel is made up of bakelite?
=> as I told u before it can't be remoulded and also a bad conductor of heat and electricity. we know that electricity produces heat and if some other plastic is used instead of bakelite, it will be melt. whereas bakelite is a thermosetting plastic and can't be softened by heat. it is the first reason. second reason is it is bad conductor of heat so it avoids the heating of the switch board panel. third reason is that we cannot get any electrical shock as it is also a bad conductor of electricity.
for these reasons bakelite is used...
hope this helps..!
