AIDS actually kills the immune system of humans.

Syndrome is a combination of several diseases. So,when a person is detected with AIDS his fighting ability against pathogens becomes much reduced and as a result different diseases occurred simultaneously. And hence we say that AIDS IS CALLED SYNDROME,NOT JUST A DISEASE.

Answer:

This produces a situation in which the body becomes immunodeficient, i.e., the body's immune system is unable to put up a fight against any foreign agents. The variety of symptoms that are produced as a result of this immunodeficiency is called a syndrome, hence the name AIDS (i.e., Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).
