why is air colorless when carbon atom has black color..... nitrogen atom has red color??????

Air is colourless because it has very low density to scatter light.

When you see something,You see it because of the reflection of light.The density of air is so low or the molecules are scattered so far away that its capacity to reflect light becomes less.So, nothing is reflected and nothing we see !
