- aluminium foil is used to wrap food items because it is malleable.
- that is it can be beaten into thin sheets.
- It is also used because it don't react with heat and don't release any harmful gas.
- Moreover it does not react with food items.
- Aluminium has high thermal diffusivity ;therefore heat will diffuse swiftly through the foil.

Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidize or become rancid), odors and flavors, moistness, and germs, and so it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging, including long-life packs (aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods. Also aluminium being a soft malleable metal, it can be beaten to in sheets to form thin wrapping sheets.
But studies have caused concern that the regular use of aluminum foil in cooking could be harmful to your health.
Hope it helps!
