Algae is a simple, non-flowering, and typically aquatic plant of a large group that includes the seaweeds and many single-celled forms. Algae contain chlorophyll but lack true stems, roots, leaves, and vascular tissue.
In the above sentence, you may read that it contains a pigment called chlorophyll which is stored in the chloroplasts.
Chlorophyll absorbs certain wavelengths of light within the visible light spectrum. Green light is not absorbed but reflected, making the plant appear green.
That's why all the plants including algae(excluding some exceptions) appear to be green in colour.
Hope you understood the whole concept.
have a nice day.
