Most of the water on the earth is salt water. It is not suitable for drinking or agriculture purpose. Only 3% of the total water on earth is freshwater which is suitable for drinking and irrigation of crops. And out of 3% only 1% is available to us and 2% is in the icecaps. So all the water available on the earth is not fit for human use on earth.

YOUR ANSWER :-

About three fourth (71%) of the earth is covered with water but the fresh water is very small proportion.About 96.5% of the total volume of water of the world exists in the oceans and seas ( saline water ) and only 2.7% water is fresh water.Out of the small volume of fresh water its 70% is found in ice sheets and glaciers and a little less than 30% is stored as ground water( freshwater).
