Hence alpha hydrogen atoms in aldehydes and ketones are acidic in nature. As alpha hydrogen is acidic,bases can easily removeacidic hydrogen to form intermediate carbanions. due to keto-enol tautomerism,alpha hydrogen migrates from alpha carbon toketo oxygen and returns back to carbon because it is not stable.
