Direct current is the continuos flow of current and in the same direction in which it is flowing but Alternating current is path changing current. Suppose a person touches an electrical wire by mistake then if the flow of current is direct then there is no possibility of survival. The current will other same direction but if the flow is alternating then there is a possibility of survival because it is path changing current. It will change its path for its flow. But this changing of path takes place very instantly that you can't imagine. You might have noticed that when you switch on the electric switch the light bulb glows within microseconds. Although the flow is AC but it doesn't take enough time to glow . So death may also occur in AC flow but there is a possibility of survival too.... This is the reason why AC is more advantageous over DC....
