Aluminium is amphotoric in nature because it react with acid as well as base..so.

It is amphoteric because it can react with both acid and base as well.
Al2O3+6 hcl = 2AlCl3 + 3H2O
Al2O3+ 2naoh = 2NaAlO2 + H2O
