why is aluminum extracted from alumina by electrolatic induction and not by reducing carbon

The bond between aluminium and oxygen is more stronger for carbon to reduce oxygen from it hence carbon cannot be used a reducing agent . To reduce Alumina (Al²O³) so as to obtain aluminium, electrolytic reduction is done, with the help of electricity ,aluminium and oxygen are separated and Aluminium is obtained at cathode

reduction using carbon is done for moderately reactive metals only and electrolysis for highly reactive metals. (According to 10th std CBSE text book). Therefore Aluminum is extracted through electrolytic reduction.
Also Carbon is a strong reducing agent
