Why is an apple not like this ??

Wow impressive question,well here is the answer:

Not just the apple,most of the fruits happends to be round.

Round is the only  3-D geometric shape that have maximum volume and lest surface area,hence giving maximum utility.

Fruits have to make the the peel or hesperidium, which demands energy and resources,hence by reducing their surface area they decrease the energy to be spent to make the hesperidium.

Moreover some argue that fruits like apple were evolved to be round so as to that they can bounce of the tree and roll away,where it can reproduce.
Density is another factor: spherical shape or round is the least dense shape,so that fruits dont fall at its premature stage.

If apple was int the shape like the above mentioned picture,apple would just fall and would not be able to reproduce,more energetically expensive for trees.


And by the way don't you thing,it would be difficult to eat apples with that shape....???
