An ecosystem is considered to be a self supporting system. Let's Take an example of ecosystem is a tropical forest and it is self supporting because the rain forest gas sunlight produce food from a process know as photosynthesis and then the animals eat the food which at one point be eaten by other animals. A pond ecosystem all plants animals and humans depend on this

It is a self supporting system because the requirements for stable ecosystem are present. ENERGY is supplied to ecosystem by light . There are many PLANTS present to change the light energy into organic molecule of energy ( glucose / food ).
