Why is anatomy and physiology hard to understand?
Answers
AnswerThree things make it hard. The first one you can do something about!
There is a lot of terminology in A&P that is entirely new to most people. If you take a course in medical terminology first, then you get over that problem before you set out. If you are unable to finish your A&P this time, do that first.
Lots of students don’t have a good ground in Chemistry before taking A&P, and that makes understanding some of the physiological mechanisms very difficult. You can get with someone you know who is good with Chemistry to explain a bit, and that will help.
Sadly you can’t do anything about the third reason. Every year brings new knowledge about the human body and its function. Fifty years ago people had the same 2 semesters to take A&P. Now it includes a LOT more detail, and whole sections on physiology of specific tissues, or issues like genetics that were the stuff of Nobel Prizes since that time. It IS demanding.
