Angora” is a province of Turkey.
“Angora wool” is used for not less than three different animal's fibers:
• Sheep, seldom outside Turkey
• Goat - luxurious, shiny, long staple, wavy fibers
• Rabbit - soft, short staple compared to the goat, long compared to many other rabbit furs can be made into very warm and lightweight products
The difficulty in turning the non-sheep fibers into usable yarns, both technical and logistical are the primary cause for the expensive cloth and products which are made from these high-class fibers.
Camels are large and produce much more per animal.
The wool does make some very nice and expensive textiles; noteworthy among these care means coats.
The coarse hair fibers make utilitarian rope.
