Why is anode positively charged when anion means negatively charged ion??

Anion is negetively charged so it is attracted towards positive terminal since unlike poles attract. That iss why positive terminal is called anode. Same happens with cation and cathode. But this only remain true in dipolar or duomagenetism. Whereas in multipolar and paramagnetism the poles the poles occur singularly or more than two as in cyclic componds like benzene.
