why is Antarctica a continent while the Arctic is not?

As the other answers have said, a continent is a large LAND mass and there is no such thing in the Arctic. Although the arctic has landmasses surrounding its borders it is mostly ocean.

Arctic is not considered as a continent but it is a ocean but Antarctica is considered as both continent and ocean.so that antartica is considered as continent..
