Mark Antony through his persuasive art succeeds in gaining the sympathy of his listeners for the dead Caesar and in arousing their anger against the conspirators. Repeatedly calling the conspirators honourable men, he goes on to praise Caesar and highlights Caesar's refusal to accept the crown at the festival of Lupercal and points out his compassion for the poor. He refers to Caesar's will and appeals to their greed by telling them that Caesar had left money to each of them. Thus through a clever use of irony, satire, sarcasm and pathos Antony succeeds in inciting the mob against the conspirators to such an extent that they frantically seek the blood of the conspirators and call them 'traitors' and plan to burn their houses Antony's action is thoroughly justified as the conspirators had a itted the sin of murder for their personal interests. Only Brutus acted out of the noble but misapprehended motive of saving Rome from a dictator. Antony exhibits the value of integrity. He is loyal to the state, its people as well as his slain friend in that he exposed the evil designs of the conspirators & ensure that ther evil design is defeated

But,. Brutus was a clear hearted but gullible person. It was his gullibility that led him to commit two strategic mistakes - first when he joined hands with the conspirators and second when he allowed Antony to speak on the funeral of CaesarIn fact, Brutus is an idealist, a dreamer with little knowledge of practical realities of life. He has no insight into characters and is completely ignorant of the worldly ways. He is in fact deceived both by Cassius and Antony. The strategic blunder to permit Antony to address the mob against Cassius's advice turns the tables on the conspirators and proves fatal for them.
