Why is Arizona's state amphibian called the treefrog?

When the votes were counted, it was clear that the students preferred the Arizona treefrog by a wide margin. Legislation was introduced in the Arizona State Legislature by Representative Larry Hawke and, on August 13, 1986, the Arizona treefrog became the official state amphibian of Arizona.
