Explanation:

The story Lost Spring written by an Indian author Anees Jung talks about the difficulties and miseries that a child living in a slum faces. They are deprived of a happy carefree childhood and has to work at an early age.

Saheb whose family is originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh is a ragpicker. They earn their livelihood by collecting garbage. To children who walk barefoot among the dumps, garbage is gold. To them garbage is wrapped in wonder. Sometimes they find a one rupee coin or even a ten rupee note. Apart from money, he also finds other valuable objects that rich kids so shamelessly throw away. To the ragpickers, garbage is a means of survival. It is where they get their daily bread from. They hope to get something useful and valuable from the garbage which can be sold athe junk shop to get a meagre amount of money.

The ragpickers of Seemapuri barely survive in pathetic performance. They live in slums where there are no basic facilities such as electricity, clean drinking water, food etc. Their children grow up with them and are forced to live a life of poverty and miseriness. For adults, ragpicking is their livelihood and a tradition followed by their forefathers.
