A gene isolated from Bacillus Thuringiensis, when integrated with the gene of cotton or brinjal, produces toxin in the leaves (and bolls, for cotton) which is fatal for bolloworm.
If the bollworm feeds on these leaves, the toxin destroys its alimentary canal and the bollworm dies.
