Answer:

Binomial nomenclature is the process or system in which, each species in Earth are given scientific names.

Scientific names contain two parts: one genus and one species. Genus constitutes of almost same organism which have evolved differently. Like Homo erectus and Homo sapiens. Homo is the genus and erectus and sapiens are species.

1) By doing binomial nomenclature, organisms of same structure , functions can be grouped under certain name.

2) It will be easier to identify and recognise them by studing one or two features.

3) Classification would help to understand the status of those organisms which are endangered, extinct, and thus necessary steps can be taken.

Answer:

  • Binomial nomenclature is a system of providing a name with two components – generic name and specific name or specific epithet which helps in avoiding the confusion among the people of different areas of the world because in comparison to scientific names, the local names or common names vary from region to region, even within a country.
  • Therefore, scientific names should be assigned to each living organism, so that all biologists and people use the single name for a particular organism.
