Why is blood type important for organ donations? Whenever I see a documentary on organ transplant, there is absolutely no blood on the organ. So if they clean the organ why does the blood type matter?

For the process of blood transfusions and organ transplantation tissue and blood group matching are mandatory. It includes some immunological reasons. When a foreign material enters into human body, the body starts producing antigens to attack them.Antigen-antibody reactions take place leading to death of the person if both blood group and tissue are not matching. Its not the external matter that is considered.its the kind of reaction body shows when a foreign material enters a person which not a match.
